DROP & SWAP NEEDS BOOKS!!!
We are out of Chapter Books for 3rd & 5th grade Drop & Swap! Several classes in 3rd & 5th grade were delayed until next week since we are out of books. Take a few minutes this weekend to purge 3-5 of your chapter books and send them in with your child on Monday marked Drop & Swap. This is a terrific program that encourages kids to keep reading through the summer. Thanks for your help! Three-Ring Circus by Barbara Christenson,
Assistant Principal
The "Three Ring Circus" is
an Oak Hill annual event on the last school day, June 3, for students. Students
rotate between three special activities: a cultural performance, a science
show, and outdoor recreation. This event also gives the teachers some extra
planning time to complete year-end requirements.
We need many parent volunteers to supervise
the students during these times: at least two parents per class. If you
can help us on June 3rd
from 7:45 until 10:30 a.m., please contact your child's teacher or
the room parent for the class. We appreciate you!
Come early for snacks in the library.
YEARBOOKS!!!
Yearbooks will be delivered to the teachers on Monday, June 1st. If you didn’t order one in February, you’re in luck. There are a few extras available for $20 on a first-come, first-served basis. For purchase, email yearbook@ohepta.org or call Jane Tumicki (892-4642) or Denise Rose (892-0951.)
Hey All You Fifth Graders: This is your last year as an Oak Hill Eagle. Don’t miss out on your chance to have a 2008-2009 yearbook!! OHE READING RANGERS - NEEDS YOU!!
This year may be winding down, but we are already winding up for a successful start in the new school year. The OHE Reading Ranger program is being revived and we need YOU to make it a success. Reading Rangers will commit 2 hours of their time one day a week to help our first and second graders improve their reading achievement in one on one tutoring sessions. We have already rounded up several enthusiastic volunteers, but we can use as many as would like to help. Please join us for what is sure to be a rewarding experience for us all.
Can't commit to every week? You can join our list of substitute Rangers and fill in when one of the regulars has a conflict. “Jump” Into Reading!!!
Help your child retain what they have learned this school year by keeping them reading over the summer break. Forms will be going home this week with your student so they can log the books they read over the summer months. If you misplace your form, you can download one from our website over the summer. All forms must be turned in by noon on September 1st in order for your student to participate in the “jump.” Those students entering 1st & 2nd grades will need to read at least 10 grade level appropriate books (parent help is okay); those entering 3rd & 4th grades will need to read 5 chapter books that have at least 125 pages each; those entering 5th grade will need to read 5 chapter books that have at least 250 pages each. If you have any questions, please contact Valarie Spake at vbspake@sbcglobal.net. Have a great summer! And keep our OHE Eagles reading!!!P.E. END OF YEAR NEWS!
First if all, thanks to all the Oak Hill families that have supported P.E. events over this last school year.
The Marathon Kid's Kick- off Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3rd. Registration forms will be at Back to School Night in the Fall. Please make sure you turn in a form so your student can get the free Marathon Kids T-shirt. A special thank you to Brandi Kinkade, Kemberly Lindsey, and Elizabeth Jackson for distributing almost 900 MK shirts for us this year!
We know Texas summers can get extremely hot! However, kids need to stay physically active during the summer. Be creative and have your child spend time doing indoor physical activities, go to the gym or swimming pool, or send them out to play in the cooler hours. Kids should to stay moving during the summer months.

On Thursday, May 28th, the 5th graders had their end-of-the-year
celebration at Reunion Ranch. This has been a 5th grade tradition for
many, many years. A caravan of parents and kids traveled out to the
ranch located in Georgetown and arrived around 9:00am. After receiving
some brief instructions from a ranch employee, the kids were free to
pick among many different activities. These included basketball,
volleyball, a three story playscape, miniature golf, an obstacle course, Indian
Teepees, swings, a musical maze, softball games, pedal boats, trolley
rides, and a climbing tower. All-you-can-drink soda was available all
day and a lunch of hot dogs, beans and chips was included for
everyone. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the many, many
trees provided some much-needed shade from the afternoon sun. At
1:30pm, it was time to head back. The kids were tired, but happy and
another 5th grade tradition was successfully carried out.
How are we doing? We've added a Guestbook feature to make it easy for you to leave us a comment or send an email to feedback@ohepta.org THANKS! We'd love to hear what you think!
