Do you shop Online?
by Christina Gentile, OHE PTA Online Partners chairperson
As we gear up for the Holiday season ahead of us, I wanted to let you know of a new way for you to do your shopping online as well as raise money for Oak Hill.
Our newest online partner is www.onecause.com. You can enter our code, which is 161499 or you can search using Oak Hill Elem PTA. Any shopping that you do through that site will earn a percentage for Oak Hill PTA. Even better, install the OneCause Toolbar and never miss a contribution - even if you forget to start your shopping at OneCause.com! By simply installing the OneCause Toolbar, you'll be making sure every eligible purchase counts, plus you can contribute up to 2 cents per qualified Yahoo! Search.
Wolves Wipe-out Litter!
Have you noticed how clean the campus and surrounding areas look? If so, you can thank the boys of Wolf Den of Cub Scout Pack 446 for a job well-done! Guided by their Den Leader, Melissa Wells and Assistant Den Leader, John Schneider, the scouts picked up 10 bags of litter in under one-hour! Thanks for helping keep our campus clean and setting a good example of citizenship and stewardship of our Earth.
November 27, 1944 was a very special day in history. Why? You ask. It is the day our beloved 4th grade teacher, Pixi Philips was born! She will turn “65” years young next week. Mrs. Philips’ class celebrated this great event on Friday, Nov. 20th, due to the fact that her birthday is the day after Thanksgiving. The class made birthday cards and entertained her with a skit that they had written themselves. The celebration also included Mrs. “P”’s favorite cake, Texas Sheet Cake, ice cream and other refreshments. The class also presented her with a dozen Yellow Roses (her favorite). We love you, Mrs. “P” and thank you for your mentoring and dedication to the Oak Hill family.
P.S. If Mrs. “P” ever retires she will be
starting a new career as a Foot Model.

New Draft Southwest Elementary Boundary Map
Austin ISD is reviewing southwest area boundary lines to
determine the attendance zone for a new elementary school at
12200 Meridian Park Blvd. and to provide
relief for overcrowded schools by re-zoning some students to nearby
underutilized schools. The AISD Boundary Task Force has been meeting since
early October and they adopted a new draft map on November 18. Please take some
time this week to view the new proposed boundary map here.
If you have any questions, you can contact our Oak Hill
Elementary Boundary Task Force Representatives, Cathy Cox and Molly Austin, at boundaryreps@ohepta.org. You can
always find the most up-to-date boundary news and updates at www.boundary.ohepta.org.
And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the
December 7 Oak Hill Elementary Campus Advisory Council meeting at 3 p.m. in the
school library where AISD facilities staff will present the new map, answer
your questions, and gather public input.
"Destination Book Fair" is on the Way!

Giftwrap and Chocolates Delivered on Wednesday!
By Kristie Peterman
The Innisbrook giftwrap and chocolates were deliverered to Oak Hill on Wednesday!
If you placed an order during the sale, your child should have brought home a box on Wednesday. If you did not receive your box, please contact PTA member Kristie Peterman.
There are backordered items (milk chocolate caramels, enlish toffee, sugar free chocolate truffles, christmas bars-5 pack, and gourmet peanut brittle) that will be delivered very soon. A notice was placed in the box alerting customers of backordered items. Innisbrook apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause with distributing your items to your family and friends. As soon as those items come, they will be delivered to your children at school and will go home with them.
If you have any items that are missing (besides the backordered items; these are listed on the side of the box) or are damaged, please call Innisbrook's customer support number at 1-877-525-5608. Please check the accuracy of your order and call as soon as you see there is a problem. .

Spring Carnival News!
It is never too early to start thinking about the PTA spring carnival!
Remember that our kids benefit directly from the carnival profits. This
money is used for classroom teaching materials, aids, programs and supplies
to ensure that our students have the tools necessary to learn.
Yes, we are already accepting donations! There are boxes in both the annex
and main building lobbies, clearly marked for carnival donations. Items
that we will need this year include:
a. Children’s books in excellent/very good condition
b. NEW, wrapped, small toys: if you visit a fast-food establishment and
can convince your kids not to open their toys, please donate them!
c. Monetary contributions: if you feel the need to contribute and cannot
assist in another way, we will always gladly accept donations. These funds
will be used to purchase prizes, food, etc for the night of carnival.
d. And, last but definitely not least, our confetti eggs!
While baking
or making your daily breakfast, please remember to crack your eggs leaving
approximately 2/3 of the eggshell intact. The eggshell should then be
washed thoroughly and returned to their original container. All eggshells
can be turned in to your child’s classroom. For anyone not familiar with
the process, these clean, dry eggshells will then be filled with confetti
and the hole in the top covered with tissue paper...hand them to a child and
use your imagination…they are VERY popular with the kids! We need 100’s of
eggs so any donation is appreciated. If you do not bake or do not wish to
save your shells, you are more than welcome to donate pre-made Cascarones!
If you have any questions or comments please contact Heather Sendera
. Thank you in advance for your participation and
assistance. Mark your calendars for Friday, March 5, 2010. It should be a
fantastic carnival.
Thank you to Lisa and Mark Spedale, OHE parents and owners of Primizie restaurant, for providing a delicious Italian meal for the Science Fair judges.
