What the OHE PTA does

Enrichment

• Provide $7,500 in financial support to Grade Level Teachers
• Provide $2,000 in financial support to Special Areas: Art, Librarian, Music, and P.E. teachers
• Provide $3,000 in financial support for Educational Training for our teachers
• Provide $4,500 in Administrative Support for the school copier, school supplies and newspaper
• Provide $1,000 in financial support to our school Counselor
• Provide $200 in financial support to our school Nurse
• Plan and execute PTA Reflections Program
• Support programs including: Math Pentathlon, Lego Robotics, Green Apple Club, Partners-In-Reading and the Reading Rangers program
• Provide organizational support and $250 financial support for 5^th grade graduation
• Provide scholarships to former OHE graduating seniors
• Provide $1,200 in financial support for C.A.T.C.H
• Provide $3,800 in financial support for Student Programs (e.g. Buffalo Soldiers, Story Teller, 3 Ring Circus)
• Execute reading programs including Drop n Swap and Jump into Reading
• Provide science fair boards at cost for student body
• Provide Parent Programs where speakers discuss various topics (e.g. Healthy Snacks, Bullying, etc.)

Fundraising

• Work with businesses in our community to sponsor events at our school to make a more cohesive community
• Provide a school carnival in the Spring
• Conducts magazine/chocolate sale

Community

• Appreciate our faculty and staff with 6 luncheons and events throughout the year
• Provide Family Fun Nights to help foster a sense of community at our school including Ice Cream Social, Movie Night, Pictures with Santa, Family Fun Run, Reading Night, Bicycle Rodeo, and a Dance
• Provide welcoming events including Boo Hoo Breakfast, Donuts with your Dude, Principal’s coffee, and PTA Information Fair
• Provide events such as Prospective Parent Open House, and Kindergarten Roundup for parents new to our school
• Provide and distribute school supplies at cost for student body
• Provide assistant for Student Council
• Provide a dedicated time each week for workshop to help faculty and staff with copies, lamination, etc.
• Design, sell, distribute new t-shirts every year
• Collect, organize school photographs for yearbook
• Create and maintain OHE scrapbook
• Provide AISD boundary information for our school community
• Develop & provide a strategic plan for our PTA for long term
• Provide labor and $1,000 in financial support to improve and maintain the school grounds

Communications

• Plan, design, implement and distribute the student directory
• Create & maintain a school website
• Create & distribute weekly electronic newsletters
• Assist with the maintenance of the prinicpal’s blog
• Maintain and increase communications in our school via any vehicle including neighborhood publications, Austin American Statesman, etc.
• Provide volunteers for many school events including Book Fair, Portraits, Vision & Hearing, etc
• Assist room parents by providing them with a contact person and support including guidelines for being a room parent at OHE
